Web Development and Operations Leader

Job Description

Our client in Berlin is a globally respected music software provider, loved by both software engineers, producers and artists in all genres. We are seeking an experienced Web Development and Operations leader to report directly to the Director of development, developing the e-commerce tools for their website.

  • Your key responsibility is organizing the technical development of the entire Web application.
  • In particular you will be responsible for the technical aspect of the in-house development of a high quality web application, with components reaching from e-Commerce, CRM, and CMS through to new user features.
  • In addition you will be responsible for the operation of the Web-related IT infrastructure, including data administration, security, and change management. 
  • You will ensure flawless daily operation as well as strategically plan for the future. Your duties will include careful 'make-or-buy' decisions, as well as technical guidance of the in-house development team. 
  • You will be responsible for resource planning and recruiting technical staff for Web development and operations.
  • You will lead a cross-functional team of software developers and system administrators and will closely collaborate with all internal stakeholders of the Web application.

Requirements

  • We are looking for an energetic and reliable person who loves leading a team; a visionary with a hands-on approach.
  • You will have at least a bachelor degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or a similar profession (Master degree preferred).
  • You will have already demonstrated success in operating customer-facing IT infrastructure or leading Web application development.
  • A minimum of three to five years of experience in a technical leadership role is required.
  • You will have a solid understanding of industry best practices and standards and you will know how to plan, implement and integrate business IT solutions.
  • You will be familiar with all stages of software development.
  • In-depth knowledge of web application technology, web security, and Agile methodology is a plus but not essential.
  • Any programming language background is accepted, Python is a strong advantage.
  • Experience in e-commerce solutions and development is required.
  • Since you will be responsible for decisions and recommendations, often affecting more than one business unit or even the entire organization, you need to have advanced skills in leadership, communication, influence/negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • You will be fluent in English (German not necessary) and able to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment and with employees at all levels/areas of the firm.
