Application Support Specialist

Job Description

Our client is an international IT Services company with globally recognised name and brand. They provide full range of IT infrastructure and services support to some of the biggest organisations in the world.

For their Prague-based datacenter they are currently looking for a number of Application Support Specialists to provide the best in class application and user support.

The objective of the role is to deliver application support and deployment services for part of a given business area, in order to ensure the maximum availability of these services to the business and the smooth deployment of new or improved services with minimal disruption to business.

Most applications are custom built and run Unix-type platforms and one of the following RDBM's: Oracle, Informix, MSSQL, Sybase.

Your responsibilities would include:

  • Provide technical support to a given customer for a portfolio of applications
  • Investigate problems and other requests for support and determine appropriate actions
  • Ensure that requests for support are properly logged, assigned and responded to in a timely manner and according to agreed standards and procedures
  • Liaise with staff responsible for the development of system enhancements to overcome known problems
  • Spotting potential problems early and taking pro-active action to stop them occurring and/or having a major disruptive impact


Requirements

  • Willingness to work on shift rota basis, on call and extended working hours when required
  • Educated to degree level in Computer Science or related field
  • Previous experience with system or application support & analysis is a must
  • Advanced knowledge of Unix-based systems(Unix, Solaris, Linux)
  • Strong SQL and/or PL/SLQ programming skills
  • Experience with Shell or Perl scripting
  • Experience with Oracle DB or other RDBMS - Informix, MSSQL, Sybase
  • English communication both oral and written
