Oracle Administrator

Job Description

SUMMARY: 
To undertake proactive maintenance and administration of Oracle databases running in IT service center. To improve database availability and stability with proactive work to avoid outages and performance issues with particular focus on maintenance 
services.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedules, supervises, monitors and gives instruction to less experienced colleagues in all aspects of Oracle database administration. Ensures that all tasks and procedures are carried out effectively and efficiently to agreed levels of service.
  • Works as member of virtual teams across Operations department to review, evaluate and implement necessary changes to infrastructure environment.
  • Acts as subject matter expert with regards to the available tools, methods, procedures and/or equipment associated with Oracle. Possesses adequate technical depth to make correct choices from alternatives in all these areas.
  • Is able to apply selected technical tools etc in such a way as to meet set targets of cost, time, quality and performance.
  • Is able to communicate effectively both formally and informally with all those with whom working interfaces arise whether they be colleagues, clients or customers.
  • Possesses a clear understanding of the relationship of any specialized role to the context in which the work is carried out. More generally, this understanding applies also to the business and the needs of those who will use the end product of the work.
  • Shows initiative and makes time available to ensure general technical competencies and specializations are kept up-to-date in line with industry developments.

 


Requirements

  • Very good Oracle database administration skills. Must be able to administer the systems to ensure problems are avoided and cooperate with another team members and members of other teams with Production Services department in IT Services.
  • Fluent in English
  • Oracle database administration experience within a corporate computing environment
  • Good knowledge of Unix/Linux operation system
  • Strong customer focus and communication skills
  • Excellent team working ability
