Java Developer - Liferay, Portlets, JPA, JSF

Job Description

You will be joining a Swiss owned (HQ in Switzerland) IT Services company who set up a development function in Czech Republic in the early 90's.  Since then they have grown and expanded and are now a successfully and fully staffed operation employing ~100 senior software development professionals split between Brno and Prague offices. You will be working on complex and challenging projects for the company's customers (primarily located in Western European countries) in Finance, Telecoms and Logistics sectors.

There are currently a number of opportunities for experienced  Java Developers. All roles require expert knowledge and skills in Java programming and related Java web technologies described below. 

You will be the member of a small team developing and enhancing eBusiness applications. Your responsibility will include all stages of full software development life cycle.

Majority of the applications will be built on top of specific commercial packages and open source products. Development process is based on Agile principles of short iterations and release cycles. Positions can be based either in Prague or Brno, with Brno being a preferred location.

Requirements

We are looking for a skilled software developer who is actively and consistently works within Java based software development for 3-6 years and fulfils majority of the required technical areas listed below. The successful candidate does not necessarily need to be an expert in all the areas, but certainly should be able to demonstrate a good level of knowledge in at least 4 technologies:
  • Java 1.5 and higher versions, J2EE 5, EJB 3.0
  • Hibernate
  • Java Server Faces
  • Portlets
  • Liferay Portal
  • HTML, JavaScript (JQuery), Ajax, CSS
  • Maven
  • Web-Services (Axis 1.3)
  • Glassfish App Server
  • MySQL or other database (Oracle, MSSQL)
Person specification:
  • Good communication skills in English, Czech is strongly preferred, but not a must
  • Good work ethics, able to work to tight timelines, can prioritize his tasks
  • Good aptitude to learning new technologies
  • Is able to work independently, but as a part of a small team
